API Support for Importing Zoho Articles
Currently, the only way to manage Zoho article imports is manually through the UI: Deleting and re-adding entries. This honestly feels quite inefficient. While it’s great that there is an option to import Zoho articles at all, it doesn’t really scale for a knowledge base in a ticket system. Content changes frequently: new articles are created daily, others get removed, and existing ones are updated. Yes, the auto-sync handles updates for already imported articles, which is helpful. However, there is no way to automatically handle newly created or deleted articles. This can neither be managed natively nor via API, as there is no available endpoint for it. I’m wondering if there is any kind of workaround for this. Given that we’re working in an environment that heavily promotes automation and AI-driven efficiency, it feels a bit ironic that such a basic process still relies on manual handling.
Optional fields are not optional?
I’d like to capture a user first name if possible (mostly to help sort chats by visitor, but also in case the bot is smart enough to be polite). However, if I add a field for first name and make it optional, there appears to be no way to start asking the bot questions without providing a name. I don’t want the user to feel pressured or required to give their name, just to offer the option. Maybe I’m missing something (a page with several example workflows would be super helpful).
Things I do with Chatling
Hi all, I’ve been using Chatling for nearly 18 months. Each day I try to improve on my usage for my clients so I’d like to tell you what I’m doing, maybe share ideas to all our benefits. 1) From a nearly stage I created a simple https script which wrote the Chatling variables into a database. It includes the question, the answer, and user details that we capture via response blocks. eg name, email, company, telephone number. 2) The data is not only automatically added to my database, but also sent as an email message to my client so they know to check the database, via a dashboard I built to see conversations, react to them, confirm the accuracy of the AI answers etc. 3) In my dashboard I allow my clients to update the answers if the knowledgebase does not give their preferred response. 4) Basically I’ve been sending conversations from the builder since it was implemented! 5) In the builder I sometimes integrate with my clients’ stock control, ticketing or CRM systems. APIs are incredibly easy to use once you have got over the initial learning curve. 6) I am turning my database into a ticketing system and eventually a full CRM for smaller clients who don’t want to use any of the bigger, more expensive CRM systems. 7) I am using the WhatsApp integration a lot. In one case we have both the chatbot icon and the WhatsApp icon on the web page and almost every enquiry comes from WhatsApp. The benefit to our clients are they get to collect mobile numbers for re-marketing. (be careful to follow Meta’s rule against unsolicited messages). If you have used Chatling for other purposes, I’d love to hear about it.
AI Credit Usage
My subscription starts on the 11th. So starting from march 11th that is almost around 14 days the AI Credit usage shows around 1529 as you can see in the screenshot. Now if i go to the tab of billing and usage, the AI credit usage for the entire month of March is coming around to be 2820 out of 3000 as you can see in the screenshot, and I have been receiving mails for 90% coverage for the same. I am unable to understand this discrepancy. When my month starts around the 11th then it means I have exhausted around 50% of the credits, then why am I receiving credit usage mails for the entire month of March.
Allow custom domains
Users should be able to whitelabel the chatbot by using a custom domain for the widget, sharing URL, etc.
Google Analytics
Is there any way to link the chatbot to Google Analytics to create Key Events and track user interactions with our bot?
Today's date
I see that there is a planned feature to get today's date into the AI. I needed that so I thought I'll share what I did yesterday. 1) I wrote a 5 line PHP script and called it todaysdate.php and saved it on my HTTP server. (See the end of this post for the source code.) 2) In the Chatling builder, I called an HTTP Integration and connected to it from the start node. On the HTTP request I typed: https://example.com/todaysdate.php. (use your own address). I used GET, but I don't think that's important. Under Save response, I received a response called todaysdate and created a Chatling variable called {todaysdate}. 3) Under Chatling instructions, I created an instruction "Today's date is {todaysdate}" (using the variable I had created). 4) If you save and publish the bot and ask it: What is today's date? it will dynamically give you the date. NB Make sure your connectors are set up properly, ie Start to HTTP Integration to the rest of the AI flow. This is the PHP source code I wrote: (disclaimer - I asked ChatGPT for the code) // Get today's date and format it $todaysdate = date("j F Y"); // Create an associative array with the parameters $response = array( 'todaysdate' => $todaysdate); // Convert the array to JSON format $json_response = json_encode($response); // Set the content type header to JSON header('Content-Type: application/json'); // Output the JSON response echo $json_response; ?> I hope this is going to help someone.
